Smoked Pear Martinez
A timeless classic with a sultry twist. The Smoked Pear Martinez layers rich botanicals, pear sweetness, and a veil of smoke for a cocktail that lingers long after the sip.
Ingredients:
- 2 oz (60 ml) Anchored Spirits American Gin
- 0.75 oz (22 ml) sweet vermouth
- 0.25 oz (7 ml) pear liqueur (or pear syrup for a softer sweetness)
- 2 dashes aromatic bitters (Angostura or walnut bitters work beautifully)
- Ice
- Lemon twist or pear slice (for garnish)
- Wood chips (oak or applewood) for smoking
Instructions:
- Place a coupe glass in the freezer or fill with ice water while you mix.
- In a mixing glass, combine gin, vermouth, pear liqueur, and bitters. Add ice and stir until well chilled (about 25–30 seconds).
- Use a smoking gun with wood chips to fill the chilled glass with smoke. Let it sit for 10–15 seconds to infuse.
(No smoker? Light a small piece of wood or rosemary sprig, place the glass upside down over it for a few seconds, then build the cocktail.) - Discard the ice (or smoke) from the glass, then strain the cocktail into it.
- Express a lemon twist over the drink and drop it in, or garnish with a thin pear slice.
